Hi I am a master appliance repair technician and I am going to go over a few things to help you diagnose your washer machine that is broken, in this step i will go over Direct Drive style washers, includes whirlpool, kenmore, roper, estate, newer maytags 2011 brands, most washers are easy to repair and need little skills, and a few basic tools. so lets get into some trouble shouting..

1. Is there power to the washer?
2.Is the washer full of water? (won't drain or spin)
3.Is the washer making a loud sound in the spin cycle?
4. Are the clothes coming out wet?
5. Is the water filling the tub slow?

These are a few common problems with whirlpool, maytag, kenmore, roper, estate washer machines.
Don't panic because these are all poblems that can be fixed cheap and easy

Lets say the washer filled up with water and won't drain and spin;
1. Is the washer getting power to it ( is the washer plugged into a GFCI receptacle )
2. Is the lid safety switch broken ? open lid and close lid Do you hear a clicking
sound? normally the switch clicks when it is working, (located on the right with lid open)

Lets say the washer has a slow fill on either the cold or hot side,
1. Turn water to washer off and remove hoses
2. Replace Fill Valve ( must remove cabinet on the washer to access the water inlet valve) Get Part Price

Lid Safety Swich good and the washer still won't drain?
1. Check the Drain pump. ( socks, coins and other objects get clogged in the washer pumps
2. Jiggle the Timer while set on the spin drain cycle position

Washer making a loud sound in the spin Cycle?
1. Lean washer back and exam the Motor Drive Couplers. ( located between the motor and the gear case assembly )
2. Inspect for Oil marks going along the inside washer wall ( use Flash light for good look)
